Anodizing converts the aluminum surface into a hard, integral oxide layer — part of the metal itself, not a film applied over it.
The oxide resists corrosion, accepts dye for consistent color, and adds hardness without measurable buildup on critical features. We coordinate anodizing through our trusted finishing vendors; your machined parts arrive complete and ready to assemble.
Type II vs. Type III
Type II (sulfuric acid anodize) is the standard commercial process — a thinner oxide that takes dye and paint well. Use it when color consistency, paint adhesion, or moderate corrosion protection is the goal. Type III (hard anodize) is thicker, denser, and far harder — built for parts that see abrasion, wear, or aggressive service. Both are available in clear and black.

Dimensional impact you can plan for
The oxide grows into the surface, so the dimensional impact is predictable — roughly 0.0001" per side for Type II and up to 0.001" per side for Type III. When tight-tolerance bores or mating features must hold after anodize, we account for it at the machining stage.
